Week 25 farm & pets

Week 25 of the year is an active and productive time for hobby farming and pet care, as summer brings longer days and warmer weather. For hobby farming, focus on maintaining crops and livestock to ensure they thrive during the peak growing season. Check irrigation systems to ensure consistent watering, especially during hot days, and mulch around plants to retain moisture and reduce weed growth. Harvest early summer crops like lettuce, spinach, and radishes, and plant heat-loving vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, and squash if you haven’t already. Pay close attention to pest control, using natural methods like companion planting or organic sprays to protect your crops. For livestock, ensure they have access to shade, fresh water, and proper ventilation to prevent heat stress.

In pet care, prioritize keeping your animals cool and comfortable. For dogs and cats, avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day and provide plenty of water. Groom pets regularly to remove excess fur, which can trap heat. For smaller pets like rabbits or guinea pigs, keep their enclosures well-ventilated and shaded. If you keep chickens or other outdoor animals, ensure their coops or pens are clean, cool, and predator-proof. These actions support the well-being of your animals and the productivity of your hobby farm.
