Hearty Strawberry Daiquiri

A refreshing frozen strawberry cocktail garnished with a strawberry and mint leaves, served in a tall glass on a wooden table.

Serves 2

A classic strawberry daiquiri is a celebration of summer in a glass. Fresh strawberries bring natural sweetness and a vibrant ruby color, while white rum adds a smooth, sugarcane warmth that lets the fruit shine. Fresh lime juice cuts through the sweetness with bright acidity, creating a perfectly balanced sip that is simultaneously fruity, tart, and refreshing. Blended with ice, the texture becomes silky and frosty, almost like a grown-up slushie. This cocktail pairs beautifully with grilled shrimp, ceviche, tropical fruit platters, or light summer appetizers. Serve in a chilled coupe or hurricane glass, garnished with a fresh strawberry and a lime wheel on the rim.

Ingredients

Daiquiri

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and halved (frozen works well too)
  • 3 oz white rum
  • 1 oz triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1.5 oz fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 1 oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups ice

Simple Syrup

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Garnish

  • 2 fresh strawberries
  • 2 lime wheels

Directions

Simple Syrup

  1. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir until sugar is fully dissolved, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely before using.
  4. Store leftovers in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Daiquiri

  1. Add strawberries, rum, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice to a blender.
  2. Blend on high until completely smooth and frosty, about 30 to 45 seconds.
  3. Taste and adjust sweetness with a splash more simple syrup if needed.
  4. Pour into chilled glasses.
  5. Garnish with a fresh strawberry and a lime wheel on the rim.

Tips

  • For a stronger strawberry flavor, use frozen strawberries as they are often picked at peak ripeness and intensify the fruit flavor when blended.
  • Chill your glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving to keep the daiquiri frosty longer.
  • For a less sweet daiquiri, reduce simple syrup to 1/2 oz and let the natural fruit sweetness carry the drink.
  • A small pinch of flaky sea salt on the rim enhances the strawberry flavor beautifully.
  • If your strawberries are very ripe and sweet, you may not need any simple syrup at all.

Variations

  • Spicy Strawberry Daiquiri – Muddle 2 to 3 thin slices of fresh jalapeño in the blender before adding remaining ingredients for a sweet heat contrast that is absolutely addictive.
  • Strawberry Basil Daiquiri – Add 4 to 5 fresh basil leaves to the blender with the other ingredients. The herbal, slightly peppery note of basil pairs surprisingly well with strawberry and lime.
  • Strawberry Coconut Daiquiri – Replace 1 oz of white rum with coconut rum and add 1 oz of cream of coconut for a tropical, piña colada-adjacent twist.
  • Strawberry Mango Daiquiri – Replace half the strawberries with fresh or frozen mango chunks. The mango adds a rich, honeyed depth and a gorgeous golden-pink color.
  • Strawberry Lemonade Daiquiri – Swap lime juice for fresh lemon juice and add a splash of lemonade. Lighter and sunnier, this version is perfect for a backyard afternoon.
  • Mocktail Version – Omit the rum and triple sec entirely. Replace with 2 oz of white grape juice or lemonade and a splash of sparkling water for a gorgeous alcohol-free version that everyone can enjoy.
