Bloom flea deterrent spray for dogs formula

Apple cider vinegar creates an acidic environment on the skin and coat that fleas find inhospitable, making this a gentle and effective preventive spray for dogs. It also helps balance skin pH, reduce itching, and add shine to the coat. This is a preventive and deterrent spray rather than a treatment for active heavy infestations. For cats, consult your veterinarian before using any essential oils as cats metabolize them very differently than dogs and humans.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz apple cider vinegar (raw, with the mother)
  • 2 oz distilled water
  • 3 drops lavender essential oil (dog safe)
  • 2 drops cedarwood essential oil (dog safe)

Directions

  1. Combine apple cider vinegar and distilled water in a clean 4 oz glass spray bottle.
  2. Add essential oils.
  3. Cap and shake well.
  4. Spray lightly onto dog’s coat, avoiding eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
  5. Work into coat with your hands.
  6. Allow to air dry.
  7. Apply before outdoor activities or walks in grassy or wooded areas.

Tips and variations

  • Do not use on cats without veterinary guidance
  • For dogs with sensitive skin, dilute further with additional water
  • Lavender and cedarwood are among the safest essential oils for dogs
  • Never use tea tree oil on pets as it is toxic to dogs and cats
  • Consult your vet if your pet has a known flea infestation as this spray is preventive
