Materials

• Pressed, fully dried leaves
• Clear casting resin and hardener
• Silicone molds, such as coaster or pendant shapes
• Mixing cups and stir sticks
• Disposable gloves
• A heat gun or small torch
• A level surface

Directions

1. Press your chosen leaves for at least one to two weeks until completely flat and dry.
2. Set up your workspace with a protective covering, since resin can be difficult to clean once cured.
3. Measure equal parts resin and hardener according to the product instructions and mix slowly to avoid air bubbles.
4. Pour a thin base layer of resin into your mold and let it set until slightly tacky, usually 30 to 60 minutes.
5. Arrange your leaves on top of this base layer in your desired design.
6. Pour a second layer of resin over the leaves to fully encase them.
7. Use a heat gun briefly over the surface to pop any trapped air bubbles.
8. Let the piece cure undisturbed for 24 to 72 hours depending on the resin brand.
9. Once fully cured, pop the piece out of the mold and sand any rough edges if needed.

Tips and variations

• Always work in a well ventilated area and wear gloves when handling resin.
• Mix in small amounts of mica powder or dried flowers alongside the leaves for added visual interest.
• Make a set of matching coasters using leaves from the same tree for a cohesive, personalized gift set.
• Try layering several thin leaves at different depths for a dimensional, almost floating effect.
• For jewelry, use small single leaf molds and add a jump ring before the resin fully cures.
