This simple preparation lets the mild, slightly sweet flavor of bok choy shine through. The garlic adds aromatic depth while the quick cooking method preserves the vegetable’s crisp texture. Bok choy provides 2g of fiber per cup and wilts beautifully without becoming mushy. It pairs wonderfully with any Asian protein, fried rice, or noodle dishes. Serve immediately while the leaves are tender and the stems still have a pleasant crunch.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs bok choy, cleaned and halved lengthwise
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 5 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Pinch of sugar
- White pepper to taste
Directions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat
- Add garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add bok choy and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until leaves wilt and stems are tender-crisp.
- Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper. Toss well and cook for another minute.
- Serve immediately.
