Hearty crispy chickpeas

This crispy chickpea snack is irresistibly crunchy and packed with flavor from garlic, paprika, and cumin. Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cumin (optional)

Directions

1. Prep Chickpeas

  • Drain and rinse chickpeas.
  • Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels (the drier, the crispier).

2. Season

  • In a bowl, toss chickpeas with olive oil, salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and cumin.

Cooking Methods

Air Fryer

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Add seasoned chickpeas to the basket in a single layer.
  3. Air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes for even crisping.
  4. Check for desired crunchiness; cook a couple minutes more if needed.

Oven

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Spread seasoned chickpeas in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 25–35 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes for even crisping.
  4. Chickpeas are done when golden and crunchy.

3. Cool & Serve

  • Let chickpeas cool for a few minutes—they crisp up more as they cool.
  • Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Flavor Variations

  • Spicy: Add ¼ tsp cayenne pepper.
  • Ranch: Toss with dried dill, parsley, and onion powder.
