Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread or Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  3. Slice the Bread: Cut the loaf in half horizontally, then spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over both halves. Or cut the loaf into Texas toast pieces, slicing the bread whole into pieces, then spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over one side of each piece (see picture)
  4. Optional Cheese Topping: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered bread if you like a cheesy touch.
  5. Bake: Place the sliced bread on a baking sheet, buttered side up. Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-12 minutes, until the edges are golden and the butter is bubbly.
  6. Serve: Slice the bread into serving pieces and enjoy it warm.
