Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (divided)
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (for sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • Cooked rice (for serving)

Directions

  1. Marinate the beef: In a bowl, toss the beef slices with 2 tablespoons soy sauce and cornstarch. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Cook the beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
  3. Cook the vegetables: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the same pan. Add the bell pepper, onion, and broccoli. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the veggies are crisp-tender.
  4. Add garlic and ginger: Stir in the garlic and ginger, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Combine everything: Return the beef to the pan. Add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Stir everything together and cook for 2 more minutes until the sauce coats everything.
  6. Serve: Serve the stir fry hot over cooked rice.
