Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1/2 cup chopped spinach
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for cooking
- Whole wheat burger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, sliced red onion, avocado
Directions
- Prepare the Turkey Burger Mix
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped spinach, chopped tomatoes, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the Patties
- Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2-inch thick. Use your thumb to create a slight indentation in the center of each patty (this helps them cook evenly).
- Cook the Turkey Burgers
- Heat a grill, grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Brush with olive oil.
- Cook the turkey burgers for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Assemble the Burgers
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly, if desired.
- Place each cooked turkey burger on a bun. Add your favorite toppings such as lettuce, sliced red onion, and avocado.
