Hearty Maple Glazed Grilled Salmon

Salmon with a maple glaze caramelized on the grill.

This maple glazed grilled salmon recipe tastes incredible due to the perfect balance of flavors: the sweetness of pure maple syrup, the umami of soy sauce, and the tang of Dijon mustard and lemon juice. Garlic adds a savory depth, while grilling enhances the salmon’s natural flavors, giving it a delicious smoky char. The glaze caramelizes on the grill, creating a beautiful, glossy finish. Serve this salmon with steamed asparagus, wild rice, or a fresh green salad to complement the rich, flavorful fish. Roasted potatoes or quinoa also make great sides, providing a satisfying and nutritious meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive or sesame oil
  • Fresh chives for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Directions

  1. Prepare the Marinade
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce or coconut aminos, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, grated ginger, lemon juice, and oil until well combined.
  2. Marinate the Salmon
    • Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper.
    • Place the salmon in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
    • Pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring each fillet is well coated.
    • Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  3. Preheat the Grill
    • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the Salmon
    • Remove the salmon from the marinade, letting any excess marinade drip off.
    • Place the salmon fillets on the grill, skin side down if they have skin.
    • Grill for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  5. Glaze the Salmon
    • During the last few minutes of grilling, brush the salmon fillets with the remaining marinade for an extra layer of flavor and a beautiful glaze.
  6. Serve
    • Remove the salmon from the grill and transfer to a serving platter.
    • Garnish with fresh chopped chives and lemon wedges if desired.
