Vodka is the secret weapon in this fabric refresher. Because it is a neutral alcohol, it kills odor-causing bacteria on contact without leaving any scent of its own once it dries, making it far more effective than commercial sprays that simply mask odors with fragrance. Combined with distilled water and your choice of essential oils, this spray neutralizes odors in upholstery, curtains, rugs, car interiors, gym bags, and clothing between washes. It is completely safe on most fabrics and dries quickly without leaving residue or staining.

Ingredients

• 2 oz plain vodka (cheap well vodka works perfectly)
• 2 oz distilled water
• 10 drops lavender essential oil
• 5 drops eucalyptus essential oil
• 3 drops lemon essential oil

Directions

1. Pour vodka into a clean 4 oz glass spray bottle.
2. Add distilled water.
3. Add all essential oils.
4. Cap and shake well to combine.
5. Mist lightly onto fabric from 6 to 8 inches away.
6. Allow to air dry completely.

Tips and variations

• Test on an inconspicuous area first on delicate or dry-clean-only fabrics
• For a masculine scent, use cedarwood, sandalwood, and bergamot essential oils
• For a fresh linen scent, use lavender, cotton blossom, and clean musk fragrance oils
• Works beautifully as a room spray as well
• Doubles as a shoe deodorizer spray
