Hearty blackberry Mojito punch recipe

Serves 8 to 10

This vibrant punch is a showstopper that earns every sip. Fresh blackberries bring a deep, jammy sweetness that balances beautifully against the bright acidity of lime juice, while muddled mint releases its cool, aromatic oils throughout the entire batch. White rum adds a smooth, sugarcane warmth without overpowering the fruit, and a splash of sparkling water keeps everything lively and refreshing. Served over ice, this punch is bold in color and flavor. It pairs wonderfully with grilled shrimp skewers, summer charcuterie boards, or light appetizers. Perfect for entertaining, it can be ladled from a large pitcher or punch bowl.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries, plus extra for garnish
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves, plus sprigs for garnish
  • 3/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 6 to 8 limes)
  • 3/4 cup simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, dissolved)
  • 2 cups white rum
  • 1 cup blackberry juice or blackberry nectar
  • 3 cups sparkling water or club soda, chilled
  • 2 cups ice, plus more for serving
  • Lime slices for garnish

Directions

  1. In the bottom of a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the fresh blackberries and mint leaves.
  2. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, muddle the blackberries and mint together firmly until the berries are fully crushed and the mint is fragrant, about 30 to 45 seconds.
  3. Add the fresh lime juice and simple syrup to the muddled mixture and stir well to combine.
  4. Pour in the white rum and blackberry juice and stir again until everything is fully incorporated.
  5. Add ice to the pitcher or punch bowl.
  6. Just before serving, pour in the chilled sparkling water and give the punch one gentle stir to preserve the bubbles.
  7. Ladle or pour into ice-filled glasses.
  8. Garnish each glass with a fresh blackberry, a mint sprig, and a lime slice.

Tips and variations

  • Make it a mocktail by omitting the rum and replacing it with an additional cup of sparkling water or a blackberry-flavored sparkling water for extra depth.
  • For a stronger berry flavor, use Chambord or a blackberry liqueur in place of half the rum.
  • You can make the base (everything except the sparkling water) up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate it. Add the sparkling water right before serving.
  • Strain out the muddled solids before serving if you prefer a smoother, cleaner punch.
  • Frozen blackberries work well when fresh are out of season and also help keep the punch cold.
  • For a beautiful presentation, freeze whole blackberries and mint leaves into an ice ring and float it in the punch bowl.
  • A splash of ginger beer in place of club soda adds a lovely spicy kick.
