Creamy, indulgent, elegant dessert.

This tiramisu recipe combines rich mascarpone cream, aromatic coffee-soaked ladyfingers, and a touch of vanilla for added depth. The whipped cream folded into the mascarpone creates a light, airy texture, while the cocoa powder and dark chocolate shavings add a bittersweet contrast. The subtle hint of coffee liqueur enhances the flavor without overpowering the dessert. Serve it chilled, allowing the layers to set beautifully, and garnish with extra chocolate curls for an elegant finish. Perfect for dinner parties or special occasions, this tiramisu is a sophisticated treat that balances creamy, bitter, and sweet flavors in every bite.
Ingredients
- For the Cream
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (240ml) mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy whipping cream (cold)
- Seeds of 1 vanilla bean (or 1 tsp pure vanilla extract)
- For the Layers
- 1 3/4 cups (420ml) brewed espresso or strong coffee (cooled)
- 2-3 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional, e.g., Kahlúa or Amaretto)
- 1 package (7oz / 200g) ladyfingers (savoiardi)
- Unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)
- Dark chocolate shavings or curls (for garnish)
Directions
- Prepare the Coffee Mixture
- Brew the espresso or strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature.
- Add coffee liqueur (if using) to the coffee and set aside.
- Make the Cream
- In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until pale and creamy (you can use an electric mixer for this).
- Add the mascarpone cheese and mix until smooth and well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and fluffy.
- Assemble the Tiramisu
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture (don’t soak them too long or they’ll become soggy).
- Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish (about 9×13 inches or similar).
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top, followed by the remaining mascarpone cream.
- Chill and Serve
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours (or overnight for the best flavor).
- Before serving, dust the top generously with unsweetened cocoa powder.
Tips
- For a stronger flavor, you can sprinkle a bit of grated dark chocolate between the layers.
- If you prefer an alcohol-free version, simply skip the coffee liqueur.
