Hennepin County and Carver County Library Audiobook and EBook Download Site – Libby by OverDrive

I love my virtual county library. Right now, I am really into checking out audio books for my daily work commute, but I also use it for e-books. You can check out an audio book for 21 days and when the time is up it returns itself. No running back and forth to the physical library. Here are the basic steps for getting set up for my county and my mom’s county libraries.

First get the Libby By OverDrive App

You can download the Overdrive Application if you are on a mobile/wireless device.

Next Add a Library to OverDrive

Once you have the app installed you will need to add your library by clicking on the Add a library link in the OverDrive menu (left side) and using Search or Browse.

Hennepin County

For the Hennepin County Library Audiobooks or Ebooks,  search and select Hennepin County Library Systems

Once you have the app and you have added your library, you can check out audio books, e-books, music and videos from this site if you live in Hennepin County and have a valid Hennepin County Library Card:

Carver County

For the Carver County Library Audiobooks or Ebooks,  search and select Carver County Library Systems.

How to check out a book:

  1. Find a book you would like to borrow using the library search functions and click on BORROW.
  2. Enter your Library card number if you haven’t already and click on SIGN IN
  3. Go into the library menu at the top of the app (right side) and select the My account drop down and then go to the sub menu  and click on Loans
  4. For audiobooks click on DOWNLOAD
  5. The audiobooks should then be added to your BOOKSHELF in OverDrive. You can see your BOOKSHELF in the OverDrive Menu.
  6. If you are connected wireless/internet, the book should start downloading. You can also go to the FILES then click on the audiobook and at the bottom of the list of files is a link DOWNLOAD ALL. Note: If you get a download error for a part of the book you can also select that part and click DOWNLOAD again under FILES.
  7. To start listening to the audio book go to BOOKSHELF in the Overdrive menu and click the Play Arrow button.
